Sr. Cora Lombardo Capstone Story

My vision was to construct a parish Adult Faith Formation website for the Immaculate Conception-Assumption Parish, located in the Archdiocese of New York, that would facilitate—in the words of Pope Francis—a “culture of encounter” both online as well as in face to face meetings.

In a few words, the Adult Faith Formation site provides information, formation, with an eye towards transformation. It is a tool to drawing adults and families to the Church and the parish. That being said, the objectives which drive the mission of Adult Faith Formation are founded on the USCCB’s seminal document,Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us: A Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith Formation in the United States. I quote:
Three major goals guide and direct efforts in adult faith formation:

  1. Invite and Enable Ongoing Conversion to Jesus in Holiness of Life
  2. Promote and Support Active Membership in the Christian Community
  3. Call and Prepare Adults to Act as Disciples in Mission to the World

The entire Adult Faith Formation Website was completed during the time of my participation in the Digital Discipleship Boot Camp. It was during this time that I was introduced to Haiku Deck, Google Forms, Canva, WeVideo, Animoto, Google Docs, WordPress, and Wikis to name just some. These Web 2.0 tools, introduced by Digital Discipleship Boot Camp were instrumental in my success in building an Adult Faith Formation Website. Animoto helped me create a digital storytelling video, entitled What is Prayer? It is embedded on the **//Adult Faith Formation Website//**.

Personally I am most grateful to have participated in Digital Discipleship Boot Camp, because it helped me achieve what for me was the “Impossible Dream,” a dream that kept tantalizing me on the horizon of my ministry. I lacked the skills, the knowledge of Web 2.0 tools to be able to implement it. Because of Digital Discipleship Boot Camp, I have grown; I have changed; I am a better catechist, a better echo-er of the Word.
